Gift Ideas: Musky Baits
What musky angler doesn't need a few more lures in their arsenal?
Strike Pro Miuras Mouse
This sleeper swimbait features a unique blend of bucktail hair and a plastic tail that creates a lifelike swimming action that first proved itself on the Euro pike scene before making its way to the musky world.
Ben Stone put the Miuras Mouse on some folks’ musky radar when he filmed a YouTube episode chasing open water ‘skies with it.
While this bait doesn’t appear that large at first glance. It’s actually 9 inches long, moves a significant amount of water, and works well on a slow retrieve in cold water.
This pic gives a little better reference for the scale and size of the bait. As you can see, it’s a mouthful for a musky. Our friends over at Ezoko actually have it on sale right now along with a variety of other A+ musky gear.
Sampson Baitworks: Metalheads 🤘
Josh Borovsky let the cat out of the bag on these dive/rise baits this fall during one of our Musky Insider PRO live Q&A sessions.
Metalheads are available in 10”, 13”, and 15” sizes. It’s a fitting name for a bait featuring a metal plate covering and protruding over its wedge shaped head. The metal plate allows you to dance or crash into rocks without worrying about damaging the bait.
The wedge shaped head and optional screw in weights can get them down deep where a lot of other dive/rise baits can’t go. You can weight them for a slow rise, quick rise, or virtual neutral buoyancy.
The small attractor blade on the back adds some action and vibration on both the pull and the pause. The blade can easily be removed or swapped out for a different size or color as well.
The fella makin’ these baits (Joe Sampson) is just gettin’ things rollin’ with his website and company. So you may want to message him through his site if you want to make something happen in time for the holidays.
This would be a great gift 🎁 for the musky angler that seems to have everything!
Angling Revolution: "The One"
Bucktails are a huge staple of any musky angler's arsenal for the majority of the season.
Now’s a great time to get your hands on some of what Angling Revolution has up for grabs!
Pictured above, clockwise from top-left: "The One" 8/8, "The One" 8/9, "The Heavy One" 9/10, and "The Big One" 10/10.
Their one-of-a-kind clevis system is what really makes these baits shine. It creates a unique growling noise that is “musky approved” and it also allows for easy blade swapping when you want to experiment with a new combination.
Even better, they are currently offering 20% off everything on their website now through December 6th with promo code: THANKYOU2024
Depending on where you live you might be able to save yourself some shipping 💰on their baits by stopping by Ezoko or Thorne Brothers as they are also running similar offers on Angling Revolution products.
Chaos Tackle Posseidons
Posseidons have become one of the staple swim baits that can be found in many top musky guides’ tackle boxes these days.
One of the reasons for that is not only do they produce, they can produce with a straight retrieve or by ripping, twitching, or even trolling them.
Our friends at Taps and Tackle have some extra spicy custom colors of these 10” models in stock just in time to stuff the stockings.
Colors pictured above, clockwise from top-left: Appletini, Hot Perch, VDS, and Wonderbread.
Check out their selection of 8 inch and 12 inch Posseidons as well.
Llungen Lures Cranks
You can't go wrong adding a few extra trollin' crankbaits to your spread!
Llungen Lures makes a ton of killer crankin' options. Here's a few good ones, listed below from the top left, going clockwise:
Stray Cat - An aggressive and hard hitting flat sided crankbait that measures 4.25 inches (6 inches with the lip)
.22 Short - This little fish-catcher was designed by Chad Harmon (4 inches long, 5.5 inches w/ lip). We've shared a bunch of big fish here in the newsletter that were caught on this bait.
.22 Long - Another Chad Harmon design, the .22 Long has a 6 inch body (8" w/ lip) that digs deep and moves a ton of water.
.50 Cal - A nine inch bait (11" with the lip) that has a wide-wobbling action and a deep dive curve.
Definitely some good 🎁 options if you have a troller in the family, especially if they fish shad based reservoirs.
Red October Baits: Boo Tubes
The BT-9 and BT-11 follow in the footsteps of of Red Octobers’ Monster Tube line up.
Boo Tubes have been a favorite among many of the guides because they have a slightly faster sink rate and run a little deeper than most of the other tubes in the Red October line-up. This makes it easier to get the bait hopping up and down in a more vertical pattern which can be critical to triggering bites.
These super versatile baits have a unique blend of soft plastic, flashy tinsel, and blade vibration. The only downside to them is they have been hard to get your hands on!
But Thorne Brothers is stocked up and has a Black Friday sale going on through Monday, December 2nd. Get ‘em while the gettin’ is good!
Musky Innovations Ultra Dawg
Weighing in at 19.5 ounces, the Ultra Dawg is the slightly larger cousin of “The Pounder.” The extra size and weight gets this bait a bit deeper and also gives it a little more of a vertical hop and fall action which can be a big factor in triggering strikes.
As Luke Ronnestrand demonstrates in this clip, Ultra Dawgs can be big time producers especially in the fall!
Ultra Dawgs are a Thorne Brothers exclusive and the sale they are running right now is the perfect time to scoop some up! (If you got the stuff 💪 to throw them.) 😉
Gifts Ideas: Rods & Reels
Thorne Brothers Stealth Custom Musky Rods
Want a holiday gift that's impossible to mess up? Thorne Bros Stealth Custom Musky Rods have set the new standard as the ultimate premium musky stick on the market.
Let the musky angler in your family build a totally customized rod, either online or in-person at their shop.
Using premium blanks and components, you can customize EVERY aspect of the rod build, including the guides, wrap color, the length and action of the blank, handle material/length/thickness, etc.
If you have a musky-head in the family, they might already have some nice rods. But as you probably already know, there's ALWAYS room for more!
Thorne Bros almost never puts these rods on sale but it looks like they included them in their sale that goes from now through cyber Monday.
Whether you're into Shimano Tranx 500’s , Abu Garcia Revo Toro Beasts or Daiwa Lexa TW 400’s our friends at Ezoko have them all on sale as part of their Black Friday sale.
Gift Ideas: Accessories
The Net Buddy Accessories
Raise your hand if you've had a tough time finding rod sleeves to fit your 10 ft rods. 🙋♂️
These rod sleeves designed by Net Buddy not only accommodate longer musky sticks, but are also designed to protect your rod and fit inside your rod locker. Pretty Cool!
Net Buddy also makes protective transducer covers for all major sonar unit brands.
They’re offering 20% off rod sleeves and transducer covers on their website for their Black Friday sale.
Costa Del Mar Polarized Glasses
There's nothing wrong with a good pair of cheap sunglasses... but if you've never tried premium shades, you don't know what you're missing!
If you're ready to make the jump, Costa Del Mar makes some of the best in business and we found most Costa models on sale for $50-$97 off as part of Ezoko’s Black Friday sale.
Let's wrap this newsletter up with a musky mashup and some big fish pics!

Huge congrats to Autumn Carner with this impressive musky on a big meaty fly!
Casting a Monster Medussa isn’t the easiest to begin with, but try doin’ it out of a kayak. 😳 That’s what Dan Joseph did to hook up with this 53 ¾” “pink day” beast, and it’s not even his biggest this year! 🤯
